Recently, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between CO "ICF "Fund for Demining and Reconstruction of Ukraine" and Ovrutsk Urban Territorial Community of Zhytomyr Oblast✍️
Ovrutsk community is located in the north of Zhytomyr Oblast and borders Belarus. In the spring of 2022, the Russians carried out about 70 air strikes on the city and nearby villages, destroying residential buildings and damaging infrastructure facilities. At that time, people left the community, but now a significant part of them has returned.
From the first day of the war, the mayor of Ovruch, Ivan Korud, actively participated in the defense of the region, mobilized the local territorial defense, which, together with the army, border guards and the police, repelled the attempts of the Russians to capture Ovruch. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the head of the Ovrutsk community with the Order of Courage, III degree, for his actions in defense of his region.
Today, one of the main tasks of the mayor is the restoration of the infrastructure destroyed by the occupiers. BO "MBF "Fund for Demining and Restoration of Ukraine" within the limits of its statutory activities will assist the community in this process.
